The friends of Castledyke are a small, dedicated group of parents who have children throughout the school. We formed a committee in answer to a letter regarding interest in creating a ‘Friends Of’ at Castledyke School. Current members are Sonia Jones, Gill Atkin, Lizzie Allwood and Becky Booth.
Over the past 18 months we have raised approximately £2000 by hosting numerous events which have been supported well by the children of Castledyke and their families. To date we have organised Christmas Fayres, Easter Bingo sessions, Summer Fayres, a tombola at Barton Christmas Street Fayre and a small stall within school providing the children with an opportunity to purchase Mother’s Day gifts. A similar stall will be provided nearer to Father’s Day between 15th and 19th June. We are also beginning to make preparations for the Summer Fayre to be held at school on the 10th July.
Our aim is to support the school via our fundraising by purchasing items from the staff ‘wish lists’ or as and when a need arises. So far from money raised we are proud to have donated goggles for children partaking in swimming lessons, three cookers, gardening equipment, fruit trees, ‘rainy day’ activites, games for year one pupils, books, a punchbag and a papermaking session with a specialist artist.
Our main focus is providing for the children of Castledyke. As parents and friends of Castledyke, we are keen to help out and take pride in preparing for events. If you feel you would enjoy joining in whatever capacity, please feel free to do so as we are always open to new members and ideas.
