Welcome

What's the Latest

I would like to welcome you to the Castledyke Primary School Website. Our school is in Barton Upon Humber in the county of North Lincolnshire. We have just over 300 children aged from three to eleven years old attending our school. We like to think that we are a little bit urban, and a little bit rural, in a large part modern, but with a lot of history!

On this website you should be able to gain a bit of a taster of the sorts of things that the school offers and a feeling of what our school is all about.

We believe that Castledyke is a very caring school. This is what our children tell us! The staff work hard to support all aspects of the children’s lives. We want them to feel secure and happy as well as challenged in their work.

We have many talented pupils in all areas from sport, to arts and IT; we encourage all children to develop their interests as far as possible. ICT is our real strong point and we have won awards both regionally and nationally for being an exceptional school in terms of the ICT that we offer to our children. We also hold the ‘Gold’ arts mark, and the international mark for our work on languages and with partners in other countries. We have a very strong link with China a number of staff have visited and worked there with the children.

We are extremely keen to use the latest technology to support learning. We know that children live technology and we try to utilise this in their learning with laptops, cameras and video recorders.

Barton itself is a good learning resource for us. We have excellent facilities, often within walking distance. There is the ‘Ropewalk’ arts centre, ‘Waters Edge’ nature area, the museum and swimming pool, as well as the Wilderspin Victorian School. All of these facilities have been incorporated into our curriculum.

We are known to be a school who takes part in many activities. This is one of the ways that we try to open up new horizons for our children. We are strong players in the local speech and drama festival taking many of the top prizes each year. We take part in the North Lincs choral event, every year, as well as taking visits abroad and to places of interest further afield. Children are offered a relevant and interesting curriculum at Castledyke.

We are a vibrant school, keen to support, not only our children, but also parents and the wider community. We are happy to welcome visitors. We have many people who come to have a look at us they always comment on our polite confident pupils and the positive atmosphere of the school.

If you want to have a proper look at us, call the office on 01652 632455 and Lillian will arrange for a visit.
