Welcome to the Governors section of the school website. My name is Mr Thomas and I am the Chair of Governors at Castledyke Primary School. My role as Chair is leading a dedicated team of Governors who voluntarily give their time and expertise to the school.

I believe Castledyke is a forward thinking school, with an excellent team of dedicated staff led by an inspirational Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.

At Castledyke the focus is always on the development of the whole child giving them the opportunity to grow into confident young people. Our school has an outstanding reputation within North Lincolnshire and beyond for providing an excellent learning environment for our children.

Castledyke also has an excellent Pastoral Team which includes a School Counsellor. These dedicated individuals provide emotional support for those children and families who may need it. Castledyke has an open door policy where families can discuss concerns or issues with the team.

In choosing Castledyke for your child you can be confident that you have made the right decision.

Kind regards,

Scott Thomas

Chair of Governors

Below are the key responsibilities of the Governing Body:

The Governing Body support and challenge the Senior Leadership Team within the school. They are responsible for all of the legal requirements of the school including National Testing and Assessment requirements.

The Governing Body meet 3 times a year as a full group. The leaders within the school, including the Headteacher provide reports and data to support the Governors in their decision making and questioning. Castledyke Governors also have a committee structure which deals with Finance, HR and Health and Safety, Curriculum and School Development. Governors are also linked to specific areas which include Special Educational Needs, Safeguarding, Looked After Children and the curriculum.

However, all day to day managment of the school is led by the Headteacher. The Governors work at a strategic level to:

  • Ensure accountability.
  • Set targets.
  • Set the strategic direction of the school.
  • Set and monitor the school budget.
  • Monitor and evaluate school progress.
  • Responsible for raising standards.

If you are interested in becoming a Governor please contact the Local Authority on 01724 297240 or contact the school office who will be able to help you.
